SURGERIES
we are committed to the highest standards of excellence in veterinary medicine.
Our compassionate and caring staff will do everything we can to comfort you and your pet. Our goal is to make pet surgery as least invasive as possible.
Prepare your pet for surgery
For your pet’s best possible surgical procedure and speediest recovery, the following is suggested protocol:
- Don’t feed your pet anything the night before surgery (usually not after 8pm). Please let us know beforehand if your pet is on medication and how often they take it.
- Before surgery, be sure to walk your dog in the morning so that they can eliminate. Know that before the surgery, we may give your pet an anti-inflammatory or pain relief injection
- After the procedure, the doctor may prescribe medication for your pet to take home with you.
Rectal prolapse
Rectal prolapse in dogs is a condition in which rectal tissue protrudes through the anus. It’s usually caused when your dog repeatedly strains while pooping or peeing.
Urethral prolapse
Urethral prolapse occurs when a small part of the urethra, or the tip, comes out from the opening of the dog’s penis. This protrusion of the urethra through the penis looks similar to a growth, such as a tumor, and typically occurs in younger dogs or dogs that are middle-aged.
stenotic nares - Nose holes surgery
The corrective surgery for stenotic nares involves the removal of part of the outer fold of each nostril. This procedure will widen the nostril opening allowing your dog to breathe more easily through their nose.
Dog soft palate surgery
This refers to the removal of the distal (end) area of the soft palate. If the soft tissue at the back of the roof of your pets mouth (the soft palate) grows too long to your pets head, a resection or removal is necessary to reduce any respiratory issues that your furry friend may be experiencing.
Caudectomy for new Born puppys
Docking’s usually performed by a veterinarian or breeder without anesthesia, the rationale being that although it certainly causes pain, the puppy isn’t fully alert yet and won’t remember it
Cropping — cutting off the floppy part of a dog’s ear — is usually performed on anesthetized dogs between 6 and 12 weeks old. The ears are then taped to a hard surface for several weeks while they heal so they stay upright.
Bladder stones in dogs
ladder stones (uroliths or cystic calculi) are rock-like formations of minerals that develop in the urinary bladder. There may be a large, single stone or a collection of stones that range in size from sand-like grains to gravel. It is common for a mixture of both small and large stones to be present.
Biometrics
A microchip implant is an integrated circuit RFID (radio frequency identification) implant a bit larger than a size of a grain of rice that is usually injected under the skin.
Aural hematoma
An aural hematoma, also known as an ear hematoma, is a blood blister that develops between the skin and cartilage of the “pinna” (ear flap). It’s very common in dogs who are prone to ear infections, especially if they have floppy ears rather than ears that stand straight up
Ocular surgery
Some of the most common ocular procedures we perform for cats and dogs, entropion surgery, ectropion surgery, eyelid tumor removal, cherry eye surgery, exenteration of the orbit, and others.
Orthopedic surgery with specialist
Orthopedic surgery is a broad term for surgical repair of the bone or joint. A canine that has broken or fractured a bone due to trauma, or one that is suffering from a congenital condition that affects the joint, may require orthopedic surgery. In order to make surgical corrections to the bone, the dog will be referred to a veterinary specialist with training and the appropriate tools.
Quality Team
If one of our veterinarians is recommending a service, rest assured that it is with the best interest of your pet in mind. It is important to us that you understand the reasons as to why a service is being recommended and are able to comfortably make the right decisions regarding your dog’s health and always looking for it to be economically sustainable for you
